All those commuters along the pacific highway between Hornsby and Sydney City - interested in sharing this ride?  I ride this five days a week, starting at Turramurra usually around 7am.  It takes me about 47 minutes to get to Town Hall, 5% longer to get back to Turramurra, which is usually around 5:15pm.  I'd be flexible with these times if I could ride with others, especially in the afternoons, as the morning drivers seem more tolerant/aware.

I'm thinking of coming back via chatswood - lane cove NP - browns waterhole - kissing point rd as the equivalent section on the highway seems to be the worst (as I've observed in the last several weeks), but haven't decided yet - it'd be at least 20 more minutes of riding, involving a decent climb.

A group of us called the "Easy Riders" ride from Wahroonga to the City starting at 6.30am at the Eastern Road Shops.  Our route can be found at the following address.  http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/Easy-Riders. We would be happy for you and others to join us.

Hi, Can you tell me what speed you cycle?  I am not fast, so a bit apprehensive about just turning up to try joining you, but would like to give it a try one day.

I've just started doing the "Easy Riders" bus and it takes just under 1 hour on the way in and about 10 minutes longer on the way back. Speed is mid 20's but there's several hills on the way. We're happy to go with the slowest in the group, it's not a race but it's not slow either. Monday, Wednesday and Friday seem to have the most regular riders.

Thanks for your reply.  I have got the route from bikely and i am going to have a go at doing it on Sunday.  Will see how I go.  I am doing the Escapade ride and thinking that i want to keep up doing more riding when I get back.  Should be a bit fitter after that too!

Hi guys,

I know this is a much delayed reply, but I am a ‘newby’ to bike bus.

I work in Pyrmont and until mid Sep 08 rode in approx 4 days a week. I recently moved from Lane Cove to Turramurra. I have just started to ride in again, aiming to ride 1 or 2 days a week until I have the ‘legs’ for the extra K’s.

Is there still a bike bus operating from Turramurra to the City, if so from where, what time and what’s the route. Also I rode in yesterday and used the back roads (Pentecoste and Werona) avoiding a part of the highway, the road seemed pretty quiet, does anyone else use this route? I ask as I didn’t see many other riders.

The Easy Riders bus is still operating most days from Wahroonga into the City and there's about 50 people on the mailing list. A link to the route map is in Coopz's post above. The main pick up points are 6:30 am at Eastern Road shops and 6:45 at the junction of Park Ave and Werona Ave Gordon.

Return time from the south end of the bridge is normally 5:30 or 6 pm and is negotiated with the riders on the day.

My ride from Turramurra heads down Kissing Point road and the M2 before connecting up to Delhi Road @ North Ryde.  From there I follow dedicated bike path to Willoughby Road and finish up at Milsons Point via the Pacific Hwy's bus lane.  Safe enough ride

Hi there, re Easy Riders Back Door Route - Turramurra - City - I have had a look at this on route on Bikely and would like to try it on a weekend (I'm a NEW cyclist) but can't seem to find a way to print out notes of the route (e.g street by street).  Does anyone know if this can be done and if so how??  (or am I just being vague??)  Thanks in advance Smiley

CLipart,
Can you provide some more detail on your route - how do you get from Kissing Point road to the M2.  I want to bike from Turramurra to Delhi Road.  I was considering the Turramurra - City route posted here and peeling off at Chatswood.
Is getting on to the M2 better than just staying on Ryde / Epping Road

Not sure if you got an answer to this. If you follow Kissing Point Rd South, there is a paved path that goes down into the gulley and come up just before the m2. You can access the m2 via a gate or go through a tunnel to come out on the macquarie side.

I have been looking for convenient ways to get from South Turramurra to the eppin rd cycle way and I have concluded that this is probably best.
